About the train

The Canfranc Express is a carefully restored historic convoy offering a unique experience on the rails. Comprised of six passenger cars with cozy compartments, this train combines comfort and authenticity as it travels through the spectacular landscapes of the Aragonese Pyrenees.

 

Every detail of the train has been designed to recreate the atmosphere of the 1940s on a journey parallel to the Way of Saint James, from Sabiñánigo to Canfranc. Enjoy everything from its classic finishes to its large windows that provide unforgettable views.

The train carriages

The Canfranc Express commemorates the trains that arrived at this Pyrenean border during the 1950s and 60s. The train consists of a panoramic car, a restaurant car, and a final passenger car.

Passengers on board

Each car offers a unique experience to the traveler: large windows to enjoy the landscape and capture dream photos, a fully restored wooden car with seats arranged in tables, and compartments for up to 8 people to enjoy with family and friends.

A journey through the past

We offer you the opportunity to take this exciting journey to another era, along a route of unusual scenic beauty, recreating the trip made by King Alfonso XIII in 1928 to inaugurate the international line. All its passenger cars have been fully restored, maintaining the finishes and essence of the period.

The locomotive

Powered by the iconic Series 321 diesel-electric locomotive, it combines power and reliability. This model, designed specifically for the Spanish railway, is a symbol of innovation and railway legacy.
